Tax Assessment

The Assessor's Office is responsible for determining the value of all taxable real estate and personal property in the Town of Warren. This valuation process ensures that property taxes are distributed fairly and in accordance with state law.

The office maintains current records on property ownership, land and building details, and tax maps. Property values are reviewed annually, and assessments are updated as needed to reflect changes such as new construction, land splits, or significant improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of property ownership, descriptions, and valuations

  • Administer real estate and personal property assessments

  • Process exemptions (Homestead, Veteran, etc.)

  • Prepare the annual property tax commitment

  • Work with residents, realtors, and attorneys on property-related inquiries


Tax Maps & Property Records

Warren’s tax maps and property records are available for review at the Town Office during regular business hours. If you have questions about your assessment or need help locating a property, we’re happy to assist.


Tax Exemptions

Several property tax exemptions are available to qualifying residents, including:

  • Homestead Exemption

  • Veteran Exemption

  • Veterans Widow Exemption

Applications are available at the Town Office or through the Maine Revenue Services website. Deadlines typically fall on April 1st of each year.
