Planning Board
The Warren Planning Board plays a central role in shaping the future of our town by reviewing development proposals, ensuring compliance with local ordinances, and upholding the goals outlined in Warren’s Comprehensive Plan. The board is made up of seven dedicated volunteer residents serving three year terms who work to balance responsible growth with preserving the town’s rural character, natural resources, and quality of life.
What the Planning Board Does

Reviews Site Plans & Subdivisions
The board reviews commercial site plans and subdivision proposals for compliance with the Town of Warren Land Use Ordinance. -
Implements the Land Use Ordinance
Ensures that new development meets zoning, environmental, and design standards. -
Public Hearings & Community Input
The board holds hearings on development proposals, ordinance amendments, and other planning matters. Public input is always welcome. -
Supports Long-Term Planning
The board helps align development with the goals of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, ensuring smart growth and protection of community resources.
Meeting Schedule
The Planning Board meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Warren Town Office.
Meetings are open to the public, and agendas are posted in advance at the Town Office and on the town website.
Applications & Submissions
Applications for site plan review, subdivisions, or ordinance amendments are available at the Town Office or on the Forms & Applications page.
Applicants are encouraged to consult the Land Use Ordinance, Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, Site Plan Review and speak with the Code Enforcement Officer or Town Planner prior to submission. Applications are due 3 weeks before the next planning board meeting.
Depending on your project, your application may take several meetings to be approved. While the planning board strives to be able to make decisions as quickly as possible, they have a duty to be thorough in their review to ensure your project meets the required applicable guidelines, ordinances, and statutes.
