Sherry just celebrated 26 years of service to the Town of Warren. Having filled many roles at the Warren Town Office over the years, Sherry is our Town Manager and is responsible for the day to day operations of the town. The other hats she wears as the Town Manager include Treasurer, Tax Collector, Road Commissioner, and General Assistance Administrator.

FAQ's

Q: When are property taxes due?

A: Property taxes are due in 2 installments on November 15 & May 15 each year. Bills may be paid in full at any time prior to the May 15 deadline. We also welcome partial payments at any time. Tax bills must be paid in full by June 30th to avoid having unpaid taxes published in the Annual Town Report.

Q: When are property taxes billed?

A: Annually, in September/October. The Town's tax year runs July 1 to June 30.

Q: Does the Town mail my tax bill to my mortgage company?

A: No, tax bills are mailed to the property owner only. It is the property owner's responsibility to forward the bill to their mortgage holders.

Q: I sold my property, why did I get a bill?

A: Per State Law, taxes are assessed to the owner of record as of April 1st. If you have sold your property since April 1st, it is your responsibility to forward the bill to the current property owner.

Q: I sold my property and the taxes were handled at the time of closing, why did I receive the entire bill?

A: Pro-ration of taxes between buyers and sellers does not involve the town. Monies can be collected for taxes at the time of closing and appear on the closing statement but may not be paid to the town. It is a good idea to check with the town about property tax status soon after the purchase of property.

Q: I have made payments that are not reflected on my tax bill. Why not?

A: The tax bill is a bill, not an account statement. We are happy to print statements or provide current balances upon request.

Q: Can you mail me a receipt?

A: Receipts are provided upon request. Please include a note and/or a self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish to receive a receipt for your payment.
