Currently, the Town of Warren is looking to fill the following vacant volunteer positions:

Recreation Committee – 9 seats
Elections: Election Clerks, Wardens
Scholarship Committee – 3 seats
Town Forest Committee – 3 seats

Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee – 4 seats
Municipal Advisory Committee – 3 seats
Warren Day Committee - 2 seats
Water Quality Advisory Committee – 7 seats

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BOARDS AND COMMITTEES ABOVE:

BOARD OF APPEALS
The Warren Board of Appeals shall hear and decide appeals, on a de-novo basis, where it is alleged by an aggrieved party that there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by, or failure to act by the Planning board in the administration of town ordinances.
BUDGET COMMITTEE
The Budget Committee reviews the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year/annual town meeting warrant. The Budget Committee may meet once, or until such a time as a changes are made to the budget to be presented to the Board of Selectmen for approval of the Town Meeting Warrant. The Budget Committee must be familiar with Freedom of Information Act, and must complete a FOAA training.
CEMETERY COMMITTEE
The Cemetery Committee works closely with the Sexton to maintain town owned cemeteries. Duties include: brush removal, rubbish pickup, fence painting, placing veteran flags, and monitoring and reporting damages for repair.
ELECTION CLERK / BALLOT CLERKS / ELECTION WARDEN / MODERATOR
Election clerks / Ballot clerks are responsible for checking voters in at the polls and distributing ballots according to law. Wardens are the overseer of the polls, supervising election clerks and ascertaining that that polling is coducted according to Title 21-A.  The Town Meeting Moderator conducts Town Meetings according to Title 30A and Robert's Rules of Order.
GEORGES RIVER REGIONAL SHELLFISH MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The GRRSM Committee represents the Town of Warren on the inter-local Clamming Board according to the GRRSM Ordinance and applicable statewide and federal law.
PARKS COMMITTEES
This group formally meets 3-4 times a year in the spring/summer season. Most activities consists of maintenance: pruning, limb trimming, mulch spreading (every 3-4 years), and general tidying up. During the winter holidays, committee members install lights on the greenery and gazebo.
PLANNING BOARD
The Planning Board oversees the approval of development in the Town of Warren in conjunction with Town Ordinances and state laws. Planning Board members are expected to be knowledgeable of laws, ordinances, regulations, and Board policies, and to abide by them, The PB meets on the second Thursday of each month.
RECREATION COMMITTEE
The Recreation committee volunteers run concession stands, tournaments, team sign-ups, sponsorship, and field maintenance. They also help the director with equipment purchases, new projects, or vetting new sports activities.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
This committee meets once a year to review applications and award 3 local scholarships.
TOWN FOREST COMMITTEE
The Town Forest Committee acts in stewardship to the Town’s forests, making recommendations regarding responsible forestry of the town’s forests.
ADVISORY COMMITTEES – 1 YEAR APPOINTMENTS – 7 SEATS
  • Comprehensive Plan Review Committee - Comprehensive planning is an ordered process that determines community goals and aspirations in terms of community development.
  • Water Protection Ordinance Committee - Source water protection ordinances help safeguard community health and reduce the risk of contamination of water supplies.
  • Municipal Advisory Committee - Advises Town Officials regarding plan to utilize subsidies for redevelopment, infrastructure, and other community-improvement projects.
