WARREN RESCUE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES IMMEDIATE FULL-TIME OPENINGS

Salary (dependent on experience and certifications): $32.00 - $37.00 per hour.

Must pass background check and pre-employment physical.  

There will be a 1st round of interviews followed by final interviews with Chief.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties

  • Performs a variety of technical tasks while performing emergency medical services to prevent or minimize loss of life from emergency medical conditions.
  • Public assistance: responds to provide EMS services not otherwise specified (elderly or disabled patient assistance), citizen assist, and lift assist.
  • Responds to alarms.
  • Provides primary patient care in the prehospital setting.
  • Completes the necessary documentation and prepares the medical apparatus for service return.

Peripheral Duties

  • Meets with elected or appointed officials, EMS officials, community and business representatives, and the public on all aspects of the EMS activities
  • Attends conferences and meetings to keep abreast of current trends in the field.
  • Serves as a member of various employee committees

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum education of a high school diploma or G.E.D equivalent

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of modern medical services principles, procedures, techniques
  • Working knowledge of prehospital medical treatment and resuscitation techniques and their application as demonstrated through State E.M.T. Certification
  • Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, departmental standard operating procedures and regulations.
  • Capable of operating EMS tools and equipment
  • Ability to supervise subordinate personnel
  • Ability to perform work requiring good physical condition
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively give and receive verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public
  • Ability to meet the special requirements listed below.

Special Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (19) years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Must posses, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State Driver's License and Ambulance Vehicle Operators Course (AVOC) or state-recognized equivalent without record of active suspension or revocation in any state.
  • No felony conviction or disqualifying criminal history within the past seven years.
  • Ability to read and write the English language
  • Ability to meet EMS physical fitness standards
  • Must posses a Maine PIFT certification
  • ACVLS (every two years)
  • PALS (every two years)
  • Mandatory Reporter (every two years)
  • ICS 100, 200, 700
  • Valid CPR card
  • Narcan Leave Behind training (Options Training)
  • Valid Maine State Paramedic License

Tools and Equipment Used

Emergency medical aid unit, other standard equipment, radio, pager, personal computer and phone.
