Town Cemetery

Due to its irregular layout, this cemetery is divided into three distinct sections, North, Center and South - with burials primarily organized by rows within each area. Situated on the south side of Main Street, west of the post office and directly opposite the Civil War monument. The oldest gravestone here dates back to 1792 and bears the inscription: “The first stone in this yard.” There are numerous unmarked graves, many believed—according to local accounts—to belong to town paupers. Records for these individuals are scarce or nonexistent.
