Board of Selectmen

The Board of Selectmen (BOS) is Warren’s elected executive body, responsible for representing the town’s residents, shaping local policy, and providing financial oversight. While the Town Manager handles the day-to-day operations of the municipality and oversees town departments, the Select Board plays a vital role in guiding decisions that reflect the will of the community and comply with state and local law.


What the Board of Selectmen Does

  • Makes Budget Recommendations
    Works with the Town Manager and Budget Committee to review the proposed annual budget and make recommendations for voter approval at Town Meeting.

  • Reviews & Approves Licensing
    Approves businesses and uses requiring local consent under state law, including:

    • Cannabis establishments

    • Junkyards

    • Liquor licenses

    • Concealed weapons permits

  • Approves Town Expenditures
    Reviews and signs warrants authorizing town payments and purchases, ensuring proper use of public funds.
  • Establishes Local Policy
    Reviews municipal ordinances, town policies, and administrative procedures in collaboration with staff and legal counsel.
  • Appoints Members to Boards & Committees
    Selects and appoints volunteers to serve on key town committees and advisory groups.
  • Represents the Town
    Acts on behalf of residents in matters involving interlocal agreements, regional planning, and state and county coordination.

  • Supports Transparency & Community Involvement
    Holds open, public meetings to conduct town business and encourage resident participation in local government.


Meeting Schedule

The Board of Selectmen meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Warren Town Office.

Meetings are open to the public, and all residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and stay involved.

Agendas and minutes are posted on the town website and at the Town Office.
