Boards & Committees

The Town of Warren depends on the time, energy, and insight of citizen volunteers who serve on our various boards and committees. These groups play a vital role in helping guide local decision-making, support town services, and ensure Warren continues to thrive as a safe, welcoming, and well-run community.

From land use planning and budget reviews to appeals and community development, Warren’s boards and committees represent a broad cross-section of local government — and are always open to new ideas, fresh perspectives, and public participation.

Primary Boards & Committees

Board of Selectmen

The executive leadership body for the Town of Warren. The Select Board oversees town operations, sets policy, and manages the annual budget and personnel decisions.

Planning Board

Responsible for reviewing development proposals, site plans, and subdivision applications in accordance with Warren’s Land Use Ordinance. This board helps shape the town’s growth and ensures it aligns with the community’s vision and regulations.

Board of Appeals

Handles variance requests, ordinance interpretations, and appeals of decisions made by town officials. This board provides a fair process for resolving land use and zoning issues.

Municipal Advisory Committee

A citizen-led advisory group that provides input to the Select Board on matters such as ordinances, policies, budgeting, and long-range planning. The committee encourages public involvement and supports transparency in town government.

Georges River Shellfish Management Committee
The Georges River Shellfish Management Committee oversees the conservation and sustainable harvesting of shellfish resources within the Georges River estuary, including areas along Warren’s shoreline. Made up of representatives from member towns, the committee works to protect the long-term health of local shellfish beds, enforce harvesting regulations, and support responsible stewardship of this important natural resource.

Warren’s participation in the committee ensures that our local clammers and coastal waters are part of a regionally coordinated management effort.

Budget Committee

Works with town officials to review and provide recommendations on the annual municipal budget. This committee ensures responsible financial planning and accountability.
